On December 17, the Zichy Award was presented for the sixth time on behalf of the Embassy of Hungary in Tbilisi by Ambassador Anna Sikó. The festive event was hosted by the iArt Gallery, located in the heart of Tbilisi, which holds an iconic status in Georgia’s art life. The event attracted widespread interest, with numerous representatives from the Georgian art society and members of the international diplomatic corps in attendance. This year, the award committee made the unique decision to present the award not to a single artist but to both a male and a female fine artist. The recipients of the 2024 Zichy Award are Ms Lia Shvelidze and Mr Zurab Gabunia.
The Zichy Award was established in 2019 by the Embassy of Hungary in Tbilisi with the aim of recognizing Georgian artists who have made outstanding contributions to promoting Hungarian culture in Georgia.
The Embassy would like to extend its gratitude to Ika Bokuchava, Director of the iArt Gallery, for hosting the event, as well as to the Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary for its financial support of the Zichy Award over the years.
